Connecting theType 1 Diabetes CommunityFrom one end ofBritain to the other

Starting 26th August 2026, a team of T1D cyclists will ride off-road from Land's End to John O'Groats.

Along the way, we'll host five community days, bringing together people with Type 1 Diabetes, their families and healthcare professionals to share lived experience, practical guidance and confidence around exercising safely with Type 1 Diabetes.

Come say hello, bring your kids, ride a stretch with us, or share this with someone who might need it.

Why we ride

Not to prove a point, but to share one.

Type 1 diabetes shouldn't be a barrier to adventure - or to everyday exercise. Living well with Type 1 Diabetes - through exercise, through adventure, through the unpredictable - is something too few people feel equipped to do. Ride4T1 exists to change that - not by telling people what's possible, but by showing it, day after day, in real conditions, across the full length of Britain. We want to show what's possible when adventure, knowledge and community come together.

Off-road from Land's End to John O'Groats on a gravel-first route, this ride is a moving platform for education - for people with Type 1 Diabetes, for the families who support them, and for the healthcare professionals who guide them. Every mile is an opportunity to open up a conversation that doesn't happen nearly enough: how do you exercise safely and with confidence? Because understanding how to manage Type 1 Diabetes through movement can genuinely transform how you live with it.

Join us for a Community Day - bring your kids, bring your bike for a short spin and local laps on the Saturday, or ride a full stage with us on the Sunday. Follow the tracker. Or simply share it with someone who needs to see it, and help us grow a movement from Cornwall to Caithness.

Join us on one of our Community Days

Learn, ride or just come along. But leave more confident.

We're hosting informal events along the route in two formats: Community Days (venue meet-ups on the Saturday with a short cycle for children and a longer ride for adults - as much or as little as you like - and a community cycle on the Sunday where the calendar allows) and Community Rides (Sunday stage days where you ride on the moving route with the team). Both are open to people with T1D, families, caregivers and healthcare professionals.

Pick what suits you - a local gathering, a full day in the saddle, or both when they fall on the same weekend.

Whether you're newly diagnosed, a parent of a T1D, or a clinician looking for real-world insight - come along, ask questions, and see what's possible.

If you have one, bring your bike and join us for a ride too.

What the day involves

Community Days and Community Rides work differently. Here is what to expect from each.

Community Days

Five venue-led stops along the route (mostly Saturdays and one Wednesday). Each includes a short cycle with local laps for children and adults on the Saturday where it applies - do as much or as little as you like - with a further community cycle on the Sunday when it follows. Plus time to meet, learn and connect.

  • Meet at the venue - A welcoming, community-friendly stop - all paces, all ages, families and healthcare professionals welcome. No racing, no pressure.
  • Short spin, local laps - On Saturdays, a short spin with local laps - not a stage ride. Do one lap or stay out as long as you like; children, young people, families, over 50's all welcome. Bring your bike if you have one.
  • Honest conversation - Lived experience, practical tips and Q&A about exercising safely with Type 1 - no jargon, no lecturing.
  • Coffee, food and connection - Time to meet the Ride4T1 team, other T1Ds, caregivers and local partners before everyone heads on.

Community Rides

Three Sunday stage days on the route. Focus is on riding alongside the team - join for the full leg or part of it. Bring a road and gravel ready bike and plan for a long day in the saddle.

  • Ride on the route - Join the team for a full stage (or part of one) on the gravel Ride4T1 route - the same roads they are riding that week.
  • Your distance, your choice - Cover the whole leg or peel off when you have had enough. There is no requirement to match the team's pace or distance.
  • Real miles, real conditions - Longer linking days (often 80-140 km) for riders who want to experience a proper stage alongside T1D cyclists.
  • Come prepared - Bring a road and gravel ready bike, kit for a full day out, and the fitness for the distance you plan to ride. Support vehicles and timings will be confirmed nearer the event.
  • Share as we cycle - Ride alongside the team on a stage day and help spread the word - every rider adds to the story along the route.

Sign up below to be the first to hear when venues, start times and ride logistics are confirmed.

Our route & live tracker

We're not taking the direct path. We've chosen a gravel-first route - beautiful trails, quiet roads and epic views, the full length of Britain.

Daily stages aim for around 100km, keeping the pace honest and the terrain manageable. Along the way, five Community Days give you the chance to meet the team, join a ride, or simply come along, have a chat and connect with others living with T1D.

When we're rolling, our live GPS tracker will show exactly where we are. Sign up below to be notified when it goes live.
